Hey Everyone,
What an interesting weekend. This weekend we photographed a wedding in Popes Harbour, a re-settled community from decades ago. After travelling to Clarenville, we headed for Random Island. Once on Random Island we went right to the end to a community called "Petley". It was a beautiful area but this was only the start of it.

Once we were offloaded the photo gear from the car, we boarded a beautiful passenger boat called "The Tuckamore". Decked out in hardwood, and pillows it makes for a pleasant ride. The captain boat was chartered for the Manuel Wedding that we were going to photograph. Saturday was a dead calm on the water as we took over an hour to sail up the coastline to Popes Harbour.

Popes harbour is a re-settled community that has no paths, no proper electricity and only outhouses for creature comforts. Besides that there are only people. But the people are not your normal folk, they are nicest, most friendly type of Newfoundlanders you can imagine. Opening their boats and bottles to anyone that was around.

Once "The Tuckamore" had docked, we proceeded to got into a smaller fishing boat to travel to the church. Yes, you read that right, we went to the Chapel in an open fishing boat. Quite interesting, and a first for us.

The Church is a newly constructed building that had not been used before the Manuel Wedding. This was no 300+ seat church, with only 40 people sitting and plenty were still standing in the doorway. The ceremony went off without a hitch and a hail of Rice and Fireworks followed.

Around the reception and ensuing jamboree on the dock, and boats, and shoreline, we left Popes Harbour and headed back for Petley. After the boat ride we were quite exhausted from all the travelling lately and we decided to stay in Clarenville for the night.

This brings us to the next interesting point in our Journey. We usually head to a hotel when we are on business but this time we wanted to try a Bed and Breakfast. So enter the Beamont Bed and Breakfast owned and operated by Jeff. The owner clearly was an ex-architect( self-admitted) who had designed the B&B with a very modern designer touch. The beds were great and his hospitality was extraordinary. I would recommend visiting Jeff anytime you are in the Shoal Harbour/Clarenville area.

Jeff has established the first fine art gallery in the Clarenville area as well as a play theatre complex at the White Hills Ski resort. Lets hope we hear more information on this venture soon.

The next day we got up and photographed the Crewe's 50th wedding anniversary in "Mahers". Note that it is not pronounced "May-ers" but instead it is pronounced "Mars".

Hey Everyone,
I have been quite busy in the past week. I took a trip to Bell Island as a true tourist. Well it was a great time and I got some fantastic photographs. I wish I could have explored the mines further than what I did, but I can imagine it would be quite dangerous.

Here is a rock formation on the south side of Bell Island. To the right is Bell Island's lighthouse which was moved because of the decay you see in this photo.

Hey Everyone, the day finally came and went. What a great time! I am pleased to say that the day went as smooth as possible. Although I was not the main photographer for my brothers wedding, I did manage to take a few photos here and there when I had time and when the main photographer was busy with the Bride and Groom.

Well here is the first of many that I have processed since I have been off the Avalon. It was a very common swimming hole when I was a teenager.

The weather looks like it will be fine for the wedding on Saturday so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Hey everyone, I hope your week has been good. I got the chance to get out and photograph some vehicles this past week as you can see in my portfolio. The weather has been astonishing. 32 degree days have made for staying out later to get certain shots easier.

To the right is a Newfoundland local car who goes by the name Newcougar. I have to say it is quite the car. Not only does it have the looks, it has quite the audio setup inside from front to back.

My brothers wedding is in a few days so I am busily preparing for that. I have the opportunity to do some photos outside of the Avalon so it should be challenging/fun.

Hey Everyone, I have not gotten a good chance to get out to do new photos for the past week or two. I have been catching up on processing for my Canadian Institute for Cancer Research photoshoot and some other clients. I am hoping this weekend I will get out if the weather holds off.

On the other hand, I was out for some supper and saw this little kitten in the pet store. Although the photo reflects imprisonment, he was actually having quite the time with two other kittens.

Hey Everyone, I have been quite busy the last little while. Yesterday I did a photoshoot for National Cancer Institute of Canada. The subject had a great time as did myself and Courtney. Her story is very interesting. I will have a link to this when the photos are published. Its good to think that the photos I did will help educate others across the country.

I also picked up some new gear and tested it out on the photo you see here. I am also in the midst of creating some new props for baby portraits. Stay tuned for the results!

Meet Zach and Roxanne. I would like to introduce you to the most recent couple who I have done their engagement photos done by me. I had such a great time working with them and Zeus. Now, I bet you are wondering who Zeus is. He is actually a dog, and a large sook at that. Did I say large? He is close to 120 pounds I can imagine. But let me tell you that you will not find a nicer dog.

I must say that I enjoyed doing the photos with Zach, Roxanne and Zeus. Getting to roll around in the grass to capture Zeus's expression was funny on everyones part.

Hey Everyone,
It has been a little while since I posted again. I've been busy with work and photography so the blog has not been getting as much attention. I've been pretty busy with photos and I can't wait for the rest of the summer to meet more clients.

Saturday I helped a friend move out of his house and I think I may have twisted the wrong way. So last weekend I was confined to the house to do some photo ideas I have had in my mind.

Today the fog is back again, but with it this time it brought rain. But before it got started I did manage to get out for a little bit to take some photos of graffiti in the city. The city council has been having a very hard time dealing with individuals creating graffiti as of late. Some of the messages evoke quite a bit of emotion, such as those that I have already photographed. Perhaps these graffiti artists make certain social issues 'too' visible to mainstream society and the city wants them swept back under the rug. I have to question whether or not they have not considered embracing such talent?

Well this is the last photo I did before THE FOG came rolling in through the narrows. Apparently our summer has up and left us for the time being. Lets hope it is nice this coming weekend for a few events on schedule.

Well yesterday I was volunteering downtown and I managed to step out for a few minutes to do some wandering with the camera. I was going to go to Harborside park but little did I know Canada AM morning show had the area under strict security. After a small chat with them I headed off again.

I spotted this beautiful Range Rover that was a tiny bit dirty but it was still very attractive.

If you would like to contribute to Andrews piggy bank to save for such a vehicle please send money to St. John's, P.O Box... just kidding.. The owner walked up behind me just as I did this shot and was quite pleased with what we were doing downtown and with the photos I did of her vehicle.

Not far off the beaten path is where this shot was taken. Close to St. John's, still an ear's reach to a nearby roadway I could hear cars. It was a very overcast day and it was nice to get out to do some water shots again.

NLASW Conference

For the past two days, I have been photographing the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers provincial conference. While it was quite fruitful for photos, it was very interesting to get dynamic angles to keep the viewer interested. The photos were dumped hourly, onto an awaiting laptop for a final slideshow for conference attendees. I hope everyone enjoyed the photos that I took for the conference and I hope I have the opportunity to photograph the event next year.

I would like to thank the NLASW and its membership for the opportunity to photograph their conference. It provided a great experience to not only photograph a new type of subject, but also create relationships with social workers in the field/provide new education on therepeutic techniques.

A bit away from Photos

Hey Everyone,
I apologize to those of you who wanted photos done in the last week at the last minute. I was in Saskatoon, SK, Canada attending a Congress of Humanities. I was representing my school of social work. Clearly Saskatoon is one of the most beautiful cities in Canada. The tremendous amount of green space in the city makes its it a photographers dream.

While there I was certainly enlightened on the different cultures that are in our society, namely aboriginal culture. It was the first time I had actually attending a aboriginal dance ceremony, let alone being able to converse with these people to find out more.

All in all, it was certainly a grand time. I would like to thank the Memorial University, School of Social Work for funding my trip. As well, to all the people that I met and helped my further my education.
