I just noticed this photo that my brother took while we were out shooting last August. It was a pretty nice day for seascape shots I must say. I was frantically trying to stay still in the 40+ km/hr winds while capture a bit of movement in the surf.

The photo was taken close to Cape Spear, Newfoundland. It was walking distance from the road. If you are ever out that way be careful of the cliffs. The edge may appear solid, but they can be eroded out under you where you cannot see.

Old Hospital

Old Hospital

I have been wondering where this old hospital was for quite some time now and I never had the time until now. There was a worker there from the city who said I was probably alright going in, but without a re-breather/respirator and permission I did not want to be tempting my health of my freedom for that matter.

It is quite an interesting old building. It resembles something out of an old horror film. Just by looking in through the lower open doorway you can see the old brick walls that resemble the inside of an old fashioned fireplace.

It is too bad there are not more of these places in my vicinity to photograph. If you know of any shoot me an email at info@andrewedwardsphotography.ca

The Smokey Corkscrew

Well today I finished my finals for the year. Trying to unwind I figured that I would try some more smoke shots. I got creative in post to add a bit of color to catch the attention of the viewer.

I am going to find a rainbow pattern gel to use on the flash head to try and achieve this without PP. We'll see how that goes I guess when the time comes.

Frenchmans Cove Shoreline

Southern Shoreline
Originally uploaded by Andrew Edwards.
Well today was quite an interesting day. I started the day by crashing my remote control airplane. Anyway, the day ended with a beautiful sunset.

I have a small portion of coastline in Frenchmans Cove, Newfoundland that I love photographing. I have been wanting to get a shot of an abandoned building on the shoreline with a nice sunset and today provided me the opportunity.

I got there and realized that over the winter months it had blown down. Oh well, I will find another. I grabbed my gear bag and tripod and put on some rubber boots and started off walking the very rocky shoreline. I ended up tasting sea salt for an hour and got quite cold but managed some shorelines shots.

I was there right before sunset and next time I'm hoping to have the time to stay there a little bit after sunset to help with exposure times.

Eye of the Cellphone

Today I had a bit of creative spurt in between studying for exams and final term papers. The subject had a good time doing the shot and really enjoyed the final version of the photo (that you see). The colors on the LCD were played with to show a different side of a persons personality. Nothing implied to the subject by the way.

Back to studying.

In or out

I have been playing around with alot of the strobist challenges as of late. This one was for the Final Four basketball challenge. The concept I was trying to get is your either in or out of the tournament. The analogy can be applied to all aspects of the game really.

Shot with two AB400's, guess how.. it is quite easy.
